Netflix enforcing new rules for users

Netflix has finally started enforcing its recent promises to stop people from sharing accounts and passwords. However, people who use one of the best Netflix VPN services seem to be able to get around this rule for now.

The new rules suggest that Netflix has decided to go after households instead of users. Customers will have to pay extra if they use an account for more than two weeks away from their primary residence. This will be tested first in five Latin American countries.

“VPN usage is likely to not affect this move as the proposed Netflix settings will be looking for a unique and primary TV device to watch the account on rather than a location setting with other devices,” Global Cyber Security Advisor at ESET Jake Moore told TechRadar Pro.

Moore thinks this move could be good for security as well. “It may seem like Netflix is choosing to increase profits by banning the use of account sharing in multiple households but this is also a timely reminder to never share passwords with others as well as keeping all passwords unique and complex.”

Why do people use a Netflix VPN?

Netflix has a lot of movies and TV shows, but many are only available in certain countries. Because of copyright issues, streaming services like Netflix put geo-restrictions on their content.

This is probably why more and more people are turning to the best VPN services to widen their TV entertainment options. According to a recent TechRadar Pro survey, about 40% of respondents use a streaming VPN to access foreign content.

A VPN was made to protect your privacy online. It hides your IP address, so your online activities can’t be traced back to you. But this also makes Netflix think you’re in a completely different area. It will only show you the available content in that area.

A Netflix VPN is the tool you need if you want to explore the world of entertainment from your couch or make sure you never miss an episode of your favorite TV show while you’re away.

Things to look for in a Netflix VPN

There are a few things to think about before letting your Netflix VPN pick.

First, the connection speed is the most important aspect of a VPN service. Video streaming is an activity that requires good performance levels. No one wants to watch a movie that keeps buffering because it can’t be downloaded correctly. NordVPN is currently the fastest VPN service on our list.

Even though getting around geo-restrictions isn’t illegal and won’t get your Netflix account closed; it’s still against Netflix’s rules. The streaming platform is trying hard to stop people from using VPNs.

So, looking for providers with good misdirection technology would be best. This will make your VPN traffic look like regular traffic so that VPN blocks won’t be able to stop it. ExpressVPN and Surfshark are two of the VPN services that offer this feature.

Last, you should choose a service that works with various devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and streaming sticks.
